The idea of an RV camping trip can have you daydreaming for days. I bet you can already smell the musky smoke and pine needles from the late-night campfire; taste the charred burgers; feel the rush of pride when you catch more fish than Uncle Rob.

No matter what your ideal camping trip looks like, Wisconsin is a great state to make it happen. To ease your planning process, we have built a list of our top five RV campsites in Wisconsin, including both parks and resorts.

Before you load up the RV, make sure you have the right auto insurance to protect the vehicle that makes it all possible.

Yukon Trails & Camping RV Resort (Lyndon Station, WI)

At Yukon Trails & Camping RV Resort, rustic camping meets modern facilities and amenities. Yukon’s 214 sites are located near the Wisconsin Dells and complemented by miles of wooded trails and large oak trees. The resort also offers water and electric sites with 30/50-amp services.

Start your weekend morning with Yukon’s elaborate breakfast featuring sausage, donuts, biscuits and gravy, coffee and more! Then, once your taste buds are satisfied, explore the surrounding trails, ride the train, or check out the new disc golf course. When dinnertime rolls around, enjoy a smoky campfire at your site or catch one of Yukon’s weekly events (past events have included cookouts, movie nights and more!).

Don’t forget that Yukon Trails is only 10 minutes away from Wisconsin Dells, the waterpark capital of the world! Between the available activities on and off site, you will always have a new adventure awaiting.

O’Neil Creek Campground (Chippewa Falls, WI)

If you are seeking a family-friendly environment with ongoing activities and picturesque scenery, look no further. For 50 years, O’Neil Creek Campground has been the go-to place for making irreplaceable memories.

O’Neil Creek Campground is in west central Wisconsin, only four miles north of Chippewa Falls. The resort offers themed activities – such as egg hunts, live music, costume contests, homecoming weekend and more – that make for ongoing family fun. The atmosphere is peaceful yet adventurous with Lake Wissota and the Chippewa River system located nearby. You can swim, tub, fish, or soak in the sun.

Their amenities include 20/30/50-amp sites, full hook ups, coin laundry and water/electric sites.

Wisconsin State Fair RV Park (Milwaukee, WI)

Calling all fair enthusiasts and city lovers: Wisconsin State Fair RV Park is the only RV park located in the action-packed city of Milwaukee. The park is adjacent to the I-94 and is the perfect place to stay during your visit to downtown Milwaukee and the annual Wisconsin State Fair.

The fair, which runs annually each August, is the place for adrenaline junkies, foodies and music enthusiasts alike. You won’t want to miss out on the hundreds of rides, concessionaires, exhibits and shows that the fair offers.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Just minutes from the RV park, you will find downtown Milwaukee--home to museums, summer festivals, dining, UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and more.

This RV park is a simpler campsite than many, but a great place to stay as you explore the surrounding area. Amenities include 70 full-service hook-ups (sewer, water, electric), Wi-Fi, laundry and more.

Lakeland RV Campground (Milton, WI)

Lakeland RV Campground features large stretches of water and 200 acres of prime vacation land, making it a scenic spot for all kinds of recreation. Lakeland is located 90 miles north of Chicago and is home to Wisconsin’s second largest lake, Lake Koshkonong. Explore the 10,000-acre lake by taking a relaxing boat ride, refreshing swim or long fishing trip.

From nature trails and shuffleboard to playgrounds and swimming pools, there is something for everyone on Lakeland’s campground. There are also many popular attractions and tourist spots just a few miles away. Sip on fine wine at Timber Hill Winery, visit the last certified Underground Railroad Station in Wisconsin, or speed down MRM Raceway on a go-kart.

Door County’s Tranquil Timbers Campground (Sturgeon Bay, WI)

Tranquil Timbers lies between the majestic waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan, offering a peaceful place to relax and explore nature. It is located along a 75-mile peninsula with five state parks and ten lighthouses.
